What the site is

KnowTheBid shows ranges built from public permit records and federal survey data to help you judge a contractor's quote. It's general information, not a quote, an appraisal, an inspection, or professional advice for your specific job.

No guarantee

We work to keep every range accurate and to show where it comes from, but jobs differ and data has limits. Use the ranges as one input alongside written bids from licensed contractors. We aren't responsible for decisions made using the site.

No contractor relationships

We don't recommend, rank or receive payment from the contractors whose permits appear in our data.

Our content

Page text, design and the checker belong to Kovalik Digital LLC. You're welcome to quote and link to our ranges with credit to KnowTheBid. Public data stays under its own license; the data sources page lists each one and the credit its publisher asks for.

Law

These terms are governed by Minnesota law.

Changes

We may update these terms and will change the effective date on this page when we do.
