I've held a Minnesota electrician's license since 2016 (journeyworker, AJ703617). By day I work as an electrician for Metro Transit. Before that, and still on the side, I've done hundreds of residential jobs across Minneapolis and the suburbs: panel upgrades, rewires, EV chargers, and a lot of troubleshooting in older houses.
I built KnowTheBid because the hardest part of any home project is the moment a contractor hands you a number and you have no idea if it's fair. Most cost sites answer that with estimates. This one is built on real permit records and federal survey data, and I check every number and every "questions to ask" list the way I'd check a bid for my own house.
I run KnowTheBid through Kovalik Digital LLC.
How Matt reviews a range
For every page, Matt checks the scope of each range against how the work is actually quoted, reviews the spot-check samples behind each range, and signs off on any field adjustment, which the methodology page lists as his.
